There are many different styles of Hawaiian
massage, and different names
for each style. The most important thing to remember is that
no matter
what definition of Lomi Lomi you practice, the common thread
that runs through
it all is the unconditional Spirit of Aloha, respect, honour
and sacredness.
Leave your judgments and illusion of separation behind,
and immerse yourself in this joy!
Lomi Lomi Nui is the Hawaiian “temple-style” bodywork
which was originally practiced
by the Ka Hunas (Hawaiian shamans) to transform & completely
balance all aspects
of self to create harmony & flow in a person’s being,
leaving a sense
of a person’s true, unique self and effectiveness in the
community.
Being deeply connected to Nature, Hawaiian kahunas would use
dance,
chanting and ritual with lomi lomi massage to inspire deep healing
and restore health, thereby promoting a happy and balanced community
with Aloha.
In different parts of the world it is also known as Ka huna
massage, Aloha massage,
the massage of loving touch, “lomilomi massage”,
Hawaiian shaman massage, “the dance of life and breath
from the heart”.
More than a massage, the ancient wisdom and Spirit of Aloha
will guide,
heal and inspire you towards your true potential. It is an experience
that overwhelms the mind with sensation as the lomilomi therapist
uses intuitive movement, breathing, rhythm and focussed intention
in long,
flowing strokes up, down, under and over the body.
This sacred Hawaiian healing can produce powerful spiritual
experiences
and heightened states of awareness.
Lomi Lomi Nui massage begins and ends with prayer,
setting an intention for the individual’s healing and
health in alignment
with their highest good. The kahuna massage therapist
then uses various massage oils, hands, elbows and forearms in
dynamic,
deep movements that mimic the ebb and flow of the ocean.
In certain traditions, warmed stones are
also used to enhance the healing
massage in Hawaiian lomi lomi style flowing movements.
More than a way to relax, this is a complete spiritual and
physical ritual
that continues with internal and external cleansing.
The lomi lomi therapist focuses on blockages
within the physical or energetic body, using breath, movement
and intention to release and free you from anything
blocking the flow of your physical, emotional, spiritual or
mental health, although always working within your own personal
boundaries in the present moment.
WHAT IS HUNA?
Huna embraces Universal Truths and is not
unique to Hawaii. Its wisdom can be found in different forms
from all over the world in all traditions.
Huna can be translated as “that which is hidden”
or “the secret knowledge”.
Not that this wisdom was intended to be kept secret, but rather
refers
to reality which is not easily seen. Huna is the Hawaiian philosophy
that can give profound insight into ourselves, life and the
universe.
Huna offers a view of life centred in love,
aloha, interconnectedness,
harmony, peace and abundance.
One can spend a lifetime exploring the Hawaiian language which
gives multifaceted meanings to many Hawaiian huna ideas and
philosophies.
A basic outline of the 7 Ka Huna

Exploring the wisdom of the ancient Hawaiian
healers,
the Kahunas (“keeper of the secret”), leads to a
greater understanding
and experience of oneness & deep connection with your
self,
Nature, people and everything around us.
Working with the “temple of the
soul”, breath, awareness & loving intention
creates a space for deep release and healing from anything
holding you back
from expressing the truest essence of who you are.
Hawaiian lomi lomi training workshops create
the time & space
for bridging your intellect with your passion.
Hawaiian style, you will dance to the rhythm
of nature, feeling intensely alive
and in community with others.
Through your body you can create
transformation & harmony within yourself,
your relationships and indeed, the World.
